# Get oriented

> For anyone new to CapZero, what it does, how your organization fits together, and where to find your work and help.

CapZero runs your organization's everyday work, such as sales, projects or a budget, in one place, for the people who do it and the AI agents that help them. This page is for anyone new to it. It explains how CapZero fits together, where to find your work and help, and gives you one task to try.

## What you can do

Your organization uses CapZero through its **apps**, which some screens call *products*. Each one keeps track of one kind of work:

| If your work is | Use | It keeps track of |
|---|---|---|
| Selling | **CRM** | Companies, contacts, leads and deals through a sales pipeline, with activities, tasks and forecasts |
| Delivering projects | **Project management** | Projects and the tasks that deliver them, on a shared board |
| Building and running a public budget | **Budget management** | Department budget requests, positions, amendments and a multi-year capital plan |
| Finding public contracts to bid for | **PublicSignal** | Public procurement notices in one catalog, saved searches that raise alerts, and notes |

Some apps add to another one. For example, **Budget books** publishes books from **Budget management**. An organization can use several apps at once. Anyone can see the apps on offer under **Add an app**, and an admin installs them.

## How it fits together

- Your **[organization](/reference/glossary/#organization)** is your company or team. It has its own members, apps and data, and nobody outside it sees them.
- **[Members](/reference/glossary/#member)** are the people in it. Each has a **[role](/reference/glossary/#role)**: **admin**, **member** or **viewer**. An app can add roles of its own, such as a reviewer or an approver, and these decide what you can do in that app.
- **[Apps](/reference/glossary/#app)** hold your **[records](/reference/glossary/#record)**: a contact, a task, a budget request. You see them in an app's **[views](/reference/glossary/#view)**: tables, boards, dashboards, and each record's own page.
- **Work** comes to you from the apps: tasks and follow-ups assigned to you, **[approvals](/reference/glossary/#approval)** waiting for your decision, and **[asks](/reference/glossary/#ask)** that need a person's answer.
- **[Agents](/reference/glossary/#agent)** can do much of the work with you, with only the permissions your organization gives them. Decisions such as approvals are always made by a person. See [Approvals with MFA](/concepts/approvals-with-mfa/).

## Where to find things

- **Home** is at the top of the rail on the left, under your organization's logo. It shows:
  - **Needs your decision**: the approvals and asks waiting for you, the one due soonest first;
  - **Your work**: what's assigned to you from every app, as overdue, due today and due this week;
  - **Apps**: your organization's apps.
- **Each app** has its own icon in the rail. Point at an icon to see its name. The app's pages are in the sidebar beside the rail.
- **[Workflows](/reference/glossary/#workflow)** and **[Lists](/reference/glossary/#list)**, also in the rail, hold your own automations and your own lists of records.
- **Notifications** is the bell at the top of the page. All your notifications are kept in your **Inbox**, under **Home**.
- **Search** at the top of the page goes to any page, or starts an action such as creating a record.
- **Your account menu** opens from your picture or initials at the bottom of the rail. It has **Organization settings**, where admins manage members, apps and settings, and your own **Profile settings**, **Two-step verification** and **Sign out**.
- **If you belong to more than one organization**, switch with the organization's name at the top of the page.

## Getting help

- On a page with a guide, choose **Help** at the top of the page. The menu, **Help with this page**, lists the guides for that page, and each one opens in a new tab.
- These docs: start from your role or your product in the sidebar, or use search. The [glossary](/reference/glossary/) explains the words the app uses.
- Every page of these docs ends with **Was this page helpful?** Tell us what was missing.

## Try it: turn on two-step verification

[Two-step verification](/reference/glossary/#two-step-verification) protects your account, and you need it to approve anything. It takes about two minutes, with your phone or a passkey.

1. Open your account menu at the bottom of the rail and choose **Two-step verification**.

You see **Secure your account**. Go on to step 2.

If you see something else, it's on already:

   - **You're verified**: you're done. **Account security** shows what you set up, under **Authenticator app** and **Passkeys**.
   - **Enter your code** or **Use your passkey**: confirm it's you with your app or passkey, and you're done.

2. Choose **Set up a passkey** and follow your device's prompts. That's all: two-step verification is on.

To use an app on your phone instead, such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or 1Password, choose **Set up an authenticator app**, then go on to step 3.

3. Scan the QR code with the app on your phone.

The app shows a 6-digit code for CapZero. Below the QR code, you see your recovery codes.

4. Save your recovery codes somewhere safe, such as a password manager: choose **Copy the codes**. Each code signs you in once if you lose your phone, and they aren't shown again.

5. Enter the code the app shows in **Code from the app**, and choose **Turn on two-step verification**.

Two-step verification is on. From now on, when you sign in, CapZero also asks for your passkey or a code from the app.
